Patricia L. Raymond, MD, FACG

Patricia Raymond, MD, FACG, is Board certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology, Dr. Raymond earned her medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia in 1986. She served her internship and residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, and completed her Gastroenterology fellowship at The Medical College of Virginia. She is a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology and the American College of Physicians, and has served as Chair of the ACG’s Women in Gastroenterology and Practice Management Committees. She earned the 2004 YWCA Women of Distinction Award for Medicine for her service to the women of Hampton Roads, Virginia.

Dr. Raymond established Simply Screening in 2004 to allow her to practice gastroenterology screening in an atmosphere of comfort, respect, dignity and timeliness in partnership with her patients. In 2009, Simply Screening joined forces with Gastroenterology Consultants to continue to provide excellent GI care and service.

The author of Don’t Jettison Medicine, Colonoscopy: It’ll Crack u Up! and Colonoscopy is a Gas!, numerous serious medical papers contrasted by amusing editorials, Dr. Raymond hosted Housecalls, a popular regional NPR medical talk show. Norfolk, Virginia NPR affiliate station WHRV 89.5 FM broadcasted «Housecalls» through 2007.

Raymond writes regular columns in My Family Doctor and Endonurse magazines, and speaks nationally to health care professionals about rekindling our passion for our health care careers (www.RxForSanity.com).
