Dr. Paul Kwo, a leading expert in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Stanford University Medical Center, joins the podcast to discuss the increases in alcoholic liver disease, particularly for people in their 20’s and 30’s. While numbers have been trending upward for several years, the pandemic may be contributing to even greater occurrences. Dr. Kwo shares his expertise on the dangers of alcoholic liver disease and offers suggestions on how to approach those who may be at risk.
Dr. Kwo is currently Professor of Medicine and Director of Hepatology at Stanford University where he joined the faculty in November 2016. Prior to joining the faculty at Stanford, he was at Indiana University for 21 years where he served as the Medical Director of Liver Transplantation. He has distinguished himself in the field of Hepatitis C therapeutics and has been the principal investigator on multiple international trials. He recently authored the ACG Clinical Guideline: Evaluation of Abnormal Liver Chemistries.
